Help me give my students the nutrition and energy they need to keep their brains and bodies functioning at their best level.

My Project

I have some of the best students around! The biggest problem is many have food insecurities at home. My Title I school tries hard to help curb that insecurity, but it's never enough. Even with free lunches, most students are still hungry. We have athletes that are here with practices and games late at night with no food available.

I need to model for my students how to make healthy food choices.

I can do this by providing them with snacks that are low in fat & sugar, while high in protein & whole grains. I will supplement the snacks selected with fruit and vegetable options. Additonally, I can inform them about how a healthy diet will better prepare them for their athletic participation because they will have more energy. Instilling healthy lifestyles now will help my students reduce the risk of developing health conditions such as High Blood Pressure, Heart Disease, and Type 2 Diabetes, just to name a few.

So please help me to model for and educate my students about healthy snacking so they can reach their full potential every day of the school year.
