This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The afternoon section of my 8th Grade Social Studies class, meets at noon - 4 hours after students have breakfast. Students are expected to meet the academically rigorous demands of the course - on an empty stomach !
Thanks to your help, at the start of class, each student receives a snack bar (they can have two if they wish), to fuel them until their lunch period.
Now that snacks are part of our regular class routine, I have noticed lethargic students find the energy to focus on their work. I have seen students able to engage with the academic content with clarity. Students are working in groups, having supportive and insightful conversations about their work.
