My Project

I would like to obtain a wireless projector so I can incorporate as much technology in my classroom as possible. I write my own classroom curriculum (in all content areas – ELA, Math, Writing, Social Studies) that is culturally relevant and differentiated for each student, so being able to project lessons, videos, student work, etc. is an essential part in creating an engaging classroom where students see themselves in the curriculum.

In addition to technology, I want to create a classroom where students have access to healthy, fresh snacks and cold, clean water whenever they need it.

Many of my students don’t have access to healthy, fresh snacks at home. So, I’d also like to get a mini fridge for my classroom that I can stock with fresh fruits, yogurts, and veggies for any student who wants them. Providing fresh, cold water for my students is also very important to me, especially when Covid contamination at drinking fountains is a concern for many students and parents.

As for the rugs, and chairs, I want my students to feel comfortable and have seating options that work for them in the classroom. Studies show that children, especially those who have encountered trauma, work better when they are given a choice on where and how to sit instead of being confined to a desk. I would like to have some flexible seating options for my students who would prefer to work in different areas of the room. These flexible seating options also make it easier for students to collaborate and share ideas, which is something that is at the center of my teaching.
