This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is typical. We learn new things daily in class. However, there are many things that my students need to learn this school year.

My students are from low-income families, and about ninety percent qualify for the free lunch program.

Some of them live with grandparents or are in foster homes. That's why I want them to succeed in school. This will lead to them going to college which, in turn, will lead to them finding jobs and becoming successful adults.

My Project

Many students come to school hungry every day. When students are faced with hunger, they are often unable to focus on instruction in class and may act out with displaced anger over not having enough to eat when they are not at school. My students are from low income families.

The school provides breakfast and lunch free for the students each day, but these growing youngsters are often hungry and need something to snack on.

By providing snacks for my students, I can ensure that they have something to tide them over until their next meal, which may not be much outside of school.
