This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Providing students with access to nutritious snacks throughout the day makes a tremendous difference in their ability to focus and learn. It’s hard for a child to engage with a lesson when hunger is competing for their attention. When I’m able to offer my students a snack, it does more than just curb their hunger — it reassures them that they’re in a space where their well-being is valued and their teacher cares. It helps students feel that they are in a safe space. In addition, having cleaning supplies and face masks on hand helps us keep our learning environment fresh, welcoming, and safe for everyone.

Together, these small comforts go a long way in creating a classroom where students feel happy, nourished, and supported.
