Help me give my students a calming community space to help other students calm down when they need support.

My Project

These materials will help my students complete a community service project. In their robotics class, students will design and build a calming community space for their peers. When students need a place to re-focus, they will be able to come to our calming space. Here, they will get to talk to other students and adults about what is bothering them, "speaking out" to help get their needs met.

The rock climbing holds will provide students with a constructive way to get their energy out.

My robotics students will build the climbing wall as a service project for other students to use. The cushion covers will create a soft and comfortable environment, allowing kids to relax and have productive conversations about the changes they want to see in their lives, their schools, and their world. This will also be a space for peer mentoring, where students help others to be their best selves.
