This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am fortunate to be a 4th-grade educator in the city of Kenosha, WI with a group of fabulous 4th graders. Our very diverse school is at 98% poverty level and 75% of our students are minorities. Bringing out the best of my students, academically, socially, and emotionally, is a top priority. I believe the pandemic has created a new set of challenges for my students and their families. My students' mental and physical health plays a huge impact in decreasing the academic gaps widened by the pandemic.
My Project
This project was designed to help my amazing students reach their academic goals with a healthy snack each day. Having a very late lunchtime each day (1:15 pm), my students often lose stamina and focus. Together, with your generosity, we can help them make gains and build resiliency. My students have so much to learn and without having their basic needs met, it makes it harder to bridge the gap. These snacks will help with that. With your support, we can make a difference by meeting their needs and providing them with the tools for success.
