Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine walking into your 5th grade classroom and looking around at your peers. You notice that they are smiling, happy, and clean. You find envy because they show up daily with clean clothes, a snack, and a well-rested expression on their faces. The sad thing is that this is not the case for many students.

Many of my students do not have the basic necessities that we take for granted daily.

They come to school to feel safe, healthy, and loved.

My Project

Students need so much more than just to learn reading and math. Many come to school to have their basic needs met.

Many times as adults we take for granted the availability of simple things like tissues and snacks.

Many students seem used to using brown paper towels to blow their noses. It isn’t right. All students deserve access to tissues. This project will allow kids to have just that.

Additionally, students need snacks to keep their brains going. While some students may bring a daily snack, this is not the case for everyone. Having a cabinet stocked with grab and go snacks will allow all students to have a quick bite to recharge and refocus their bodies.
