My Students
Our school in Richmond, CA is considered high poverty with a diverse student population. In fact, our school is one of the most ethnically diverse schools in the Bay Area.
The students in my class are a bright bunch and really look forward to times in class when we read books that teach them about health and nutrition. They are excited to do some more cooking with the vegetables that we grow in our classroom garden using the recipe books we requested.
My Project
Learning about healthy eating at a young age is such a gift to a child and will give them skills that they can draw upon their whole lives. We have a classroom garden and we are learning about the source of our food. I would like to have some cookbooks and nutrition books to help teach them how to prepare healthy food and the importance of whole foods for a healthy body.
We also are learning about our emotions and how to handle difficult emotions in a healthy way.
The books we choose are wonderful teaching tools to help the children learn strategies for a healthy mind and body.
