Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students come from a low socioeconomic background. We are a Title I school where everyone receives free lunch. Most of my families receive monthly help with food programs, including W.I.C, and Food Stamps. I love bringing fruits and vegetable to school that might not be on their meal tables at home. This summer we tried Golden Kiwi's, and Baby Bell Peppers and it was a big hit! I am learning that my students love to try new foods and learn about how good nutrition helps you grow. I want to encourage healthy eating in my classroom and beyond.

I am asking for materials for the classroom to help my young students learn about healthy eating and nutritional meal choices.

I have asked for healthy meal baskets, a sandwich set, and a muffin bake set, for the playhouse area. For the library area I have requested healthy habits poster set, and books on healthy eating. For the fine motor area, I have asked for a magnetic food plate game, fruit and veggie dominoes, and a felt My Plate game. For the Snack time area I have asked for child size pitchers to help child to learn to safely pour juice and water in class for their friends.
