I work at a low-income school in Clarkston, WA. More than 80% of the students in our school qualify for the free or reduced-price lunch program. We have classes with as many as 32 students in them and we house the behavior program for the district. This can sometimes make it difficult to inspire our students to love school and want to be there.
Despite the difficulties our students face, they love our school and want to be there.
The teachers at my school do a wonderful job of encouraging our students and getting them excited about learning and displaying their learning.
My students work hard every day and are learning how to be self-sufficient learners and workers. This year, their behavior has gone from being consistently violent and disrespectful to being focused on the future and working their hardest to be successful in all that they do.
My Project
As we go into this cold and flu season, illness will hit my classroom hard. Many students will be absent causing them to miss instruction due to being home fighting illness. When students are absent for long periods of time, it becomes difficult for them to catch up. In an effort to prevent illness-related absences, I would like to provide my classroom with materials to combat germs.
Your donation will go to buy hand sanitizer and cleaning wipes.
Students will have the materials they need to combat germs in the classroom and stay healthy, but also to learn about the importance of keeping a clean and healthy environment.
