My students would love to be more active during their recess time. These students are yearning to move and play but do not have the resources. This would also allow for students to work on life long character skills.
My students do not have the opportunity for these activities after school hours.
I would like to provide each day the basic fundamentals of being able to move and exercise. Recess provides the creative, social and emotional benefits of play. This also allows healthier learners in the classroom setting.
My Project
Recess plays a key role in a child’s physical, social, and academic development. Recess provides students with time to be active and help them develop healthy bodies and enjoy moving more. Every student needs the opportunity during recess to be active.
Recess is a time for children to release energy and reduce stress which also may improve attention and reduce disruptive behavior in the classroom.
Over 600 students will be able to use this equipment daily during their recess time. In the playground packs are everything you need to keep students active and entertained at recess. Each pack includes 3 playground balls, 1 nylon 16 ft jump rope, 2 deluxe Skip-N-Hops, 1 oversized mesh duffle bag, 6 gradestuff 7 ft jump ropes, 2 junior MAX basketballs, 1 laminated #4 soccer ball, 2 gradestuff foam discs and 6 indestructible beanbags. Students can use the equipment individually or within a group/team.
Providing inexpensive playground equipment to encourage students to be active is a way to ensure active recess allows students to have choices about how to use their free time and encourage physical activity for all students, regardless of skill or ability.
