My Students

I work in a structured learning center for students with a range of different needs because they are impacted by disabilities such as autism, intellectual disability, emotional disturbance, orthopedic impairments, or traumatic brain injuries. Several of my students have been in foster care or come from a background of trauma. Most of my class is on free or reduced-price lunch.

Regardless of their differences and past experiences, my students are brave, resilient, and admirable.

My students are strong, resilient, love being included, and accepted in our school. They inspire me each day because they have overcome much more than a typical person does in a lifetime. Despite their struggles, they persevere, come to school wanting to learn, and wanting to be a part of the school community. I will always advocate for my students and ensure that they get what they need.

My Project

Help me give my students a healthy classroom so that they can attend school and keep on learning!

We would love to have this humidifier in our classroom!

Out of all my years of teaching, last year was the worst for illnesses in our classroom! I had students miss more school due to illness than I ever have! As a teacher, I know that students that miss multiple days of school have a lower chance of graduating, lower achievement, and lower confidence in school. I truly want my students to be here every single day so that they can learn.

In our classroom, we practice good hygiene because we know that students are not learning if they're missing school.

The number one reason students miss school is- illness. We read a study that said hospitals that use humidifiers are less likely to spread airborne viruses! Help us stay healthy with a new humidifier!
