Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a city-wide school, which means that we don't just accept students from this neighborhood, but from all corners of the city. Our students come from a variety of different backgrounds, ethnicities, social economic, etc.
We run various program here, however, our main program is CTE, Career and Technical Education.
We focus on career pathways such as culinary arts, automotive, construction, programing, etc. Not every student is collage bound, however, every student graduating from Prosser is career ready.
Students at Prosser are exposed to different learning techniques, different personalities and different ideas. This makes them eager to learn and yet open minded and excepting. We have the type of student that reaches out to the different, who invite the alienated and who inquire when other reject or fear.
I know most people say this about there students, however, I've worked in many school and can honestly say that the students here are truly genuine, hardworking, respectful and and dedicated.
My Project
As the pandemic has taught us that school isn't just a place for learning, and students need more then just assignments and projects. During the era of school closures we've worked hard at and focused a lot of energy on making sure the students had access to technology at home, but no one bothered to check if they had access to fitness at home.
Our students are mostly from lower/middle class families, living in apartments.
They have very limited access to parks and recreation, especially in the winter months. Because of all the time this generation of students has spent in front of screens, their health and fitness has fallen behind.
This equipment will help us create a class and an environment to help all of our students have access to, and training in proper physical fitness, cardio training and weight loss.
