Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come to school everyday, rain or shine and ready to learn no matter the circumstance they came from, so I want to make sure all their needs are met!
My students have a passion for learning language that is bigger than you can imagine!
They all come from Spanish speaking homes and are sometimes the only one in their home who can speak, read and write in English. Most of our families fall below the poverty line for where we live and one hundred percent of our students qualify for free or reduced price lunch. This year is the first year that they will be in an all year English classroom and I want them and their families to feel like they have materials at home to help them excel in this new endeavor.
My Project
This project includes the basics. My students all eat breakfast at school and if they are tardy or have a dentist appointment before school-they miss breakfast. I can't have them learn if they are not feed first. I am asking for donations to support granola bars in the classroom in case someone has forgotten to eat or missed the breakfast option here.
Have you ever lost a mitten or a glove?
Me too, and so has every single one of my students. Michigan brings cold winters. These students walk to school and have the access to playing outside in the snow. I would love for them to be able to have access to waterproof gloves all winter long!
Lastly, we are asking for hand sanitizer and eyeglass cleaner. It is hard to stay clean as a kid and we are just asking for the basics to keep us supported throughout the day!
