My Students

¡Hola! I have taught bilingual (Spanish) kindergarten in the Chicago Public School system for 13 years. The students I teach come from predominantly low-income families and are all English Language Learners. The school I teach is a neighborhood primary school, diverse in many ways (we have 43 languages represented!). That diversity in language and culture is something that I am grateful to be a part of. I am excited to provide my young students with experiences and resources that they otherwise may not come across every year.

I am passionate about teaching early childhood and love exposing my young students to new experiences, getting them excited and invested in their learning!

My Project

I am requesting cleaning supplies such as disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer for my classroom so that my young learners can stay healthy! In the current time of Covid, my class has already had to quarantine once due to a positive case, and I'd like to do everything I can to ensure this doesn't happen again. (It's also flu season, and we'd like to keep all germs to a minimum!)

Teaching my young learners about personal hygiene includes including them in cleaning our classroom; wiping down tables and chairs daily is something that gets them involved and more aware of measures we can take to stay healthy and in school.
