This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing. They come to school prepared to learn and try their best to achieve our high expectations every day.

Our school is located in a low-income area with most students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.

Most of my students have limited resources outside of school, so school may provide their only chance to experience enriching activities and a warm meal at lunch. Good nutrition is essential for a student’s mental health, academic achievement, and physical productivity. I want to be able to provide my students with a healthy snack during the day to keep their bodies running. These snacks will help my students recharge their energy and stay focused on completing the daily tasks at school.

My Project

Sadly, lunch for many of our students is the last full meal they will eat until breakfast the next morning. We are in need of snacks that will provide nutrition to keep our students focused throughout the day. We were fortunate to have a snack project funded earlier this year, but our snacks are now depleted.

I would like to be able to provide my students with a healthy snack, to eat at school to help them stay focused.

It's hard for the children to think or work on an empty stomach. For me, not knowing how soon a child will have something to eat after school is disheartening. I want to be able to at least provide them with a healthy snack to keep their bodies running. These snacks will help my students recharge their energy and focus better on completing the daily tasks at school.
