Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are writing to request funding to support our student-led snack cart initiative, a program aimed at fostering vocational and social skills development among our special needs students.

The student-led snack cart is a dynamic platform for our students to develop crucial social skills.

Students learn these skills by "working" on the snack cart and offering snacks to adults. By having this job, the students learn how to complete a mock business transaction, greet others, follow directions and much more!

When interacting with peers and other staff, they learn the art of communication, problem-solving, and teamwork. These skills are essential for successful integration into society and future employment.

In addition to the above, we are committed to promoting the well-being of our students by offering healthy snack options. We believe that providing nutritious snacks aligns with our mission to support their physical, emotional, and cognitive development. Healthy snacks not only contribute to better overall health but also enhance cognitive functioning, allowing our students to excel in their studies and social interactions.

We recently received funding for this same project and it was SO successful that we completely ran out of all of the healthy snacks. The students loved it so much that we would like to refill our cart again for the 3rd time! This time we would also like to include a small lock for our cabinet that stores our inventory.

With your contribution, we can continue to provide our students with these invaluable learning opportunities while ensuring that they have access to nutritious snacks. Your support will help us maintain and expand this program, making a lasting impact on the lives of our special needs students. This request includes a multitude of healthy snacks for our students to offer on our snack cart.
