Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school is in an area with high food insecurity. Because of this, many scholars are unable to access the food that they need to fuel their brains and be ready for the day. Our school qualifies for free-and-reduced lunch, which bridges the gap for many, but as the oldest grade in the school, we have the latest lunch!

Our scholars are at school for several hours before they get to eat lunch.

Because of this, we have a quick snack time during the day, but many scholars forget or do not have access to healthy brain fuel for this time. The resources in this project provide access to a few quick snacks for those that did not bring one that day. There are also water bottles to remind students of the importance of hydration and make sure they are not suffering from headaches due to dehydration! This way, I can ensure students are taking care of their bodies after P.E. and recess.

Using this space to create healthy habits is a goal for our room.
