My students need a variety of fiction and nonfiction books as well as food play materials to help them learn about healthy choices.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students embody what it means to be hungry for knowledge.
My students are the most insightful, curious, and capable group of first graders I could imagine.
Each and every student brings with him or her a unique and individually energetic attitude about learning. They crave knowledge. These kids are full of questions and are amazing little researchers ready to find answers for themselves.
My Project
The books and materials I have requested will help my students learn about their bodies. In the United States, an alarming proportion of kids and adults are overweight or obese, leading to a multitude of preventable diseases later in life. I want my students to be prepared to make healthy choices about their bodies and brains. The MyPlate materials and literature will be an excellent supplement to the CookShop program my school participates in as a partner with the Food Bank.
These items will help students see what more healthy food looks like, and understand how these foods will help their bodies grow.
Additionally, the books I have requested will be a fantastic source of knowledge and teaching material for the students to learn about themselves and their amazing, growing bodies.
