Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every day, I come to work and see hundreds of kids walking from their homes from the community into the school. Every day I see students walking from the bus stop because they have taken a two-hour bus ride just to get to school. Every day, I realize how amazing the students I teach are.
There are three words that I can use to describe my students: intelligent, enduring, and inspiring.
My students have low confidence in their performance; but I know better. I have seen them rise to the occasion and excel every time I have introduced a challenge.
My Project
Too often students have a limited world view surrounding the scientific community, especially in scientific invention and healthcare. In order to broaden a student's scope, it becomes easier to grab their attention through popular fiction.
Investigating the human struggle is a vital element towards helping students better understand the need for interest and innovation in public health.
Through the various literary titles, students can gain multiple perspectives in ethics, scientific invention, and mental illness. With a more well-rounded approach to healthcare needs, students can make more informed decisions about healthcare issues as they become an adult. In addition, reading and analyzing classic literature will become a valuable skill for those college-bound students.
