Help me give my students a personal hygiene station with drawers full of bandaids, chapstick, hair ties, wipes, gloves, socks, and more!

My Project

As first graders, they are just beginning to learn how to take care of their bodies. Often times during school students will get very minor scrapes and cuts and want to go to the nurse. Our school nurse works so hard that she does not have time for every little bump and bruise, and often times students just need a little love and care to feel better. And sometimes all a kid needs is a little bag of fruit snacks to forget why they were upset in the first place. By having a personal hygiene station with basic supplies like bandaids, lotion, ice packs, and Neosporin we can cut down on trips to the nurse and increase vital learning time.

Students cannot learn if their basic needs are not first met.

This hygiene station, organized into labeled drawers, will give students the agency to take care of their bodies when needed. How can a student learn if their glasses are dirty or lips are so chapped they hurt? If they're hyper focused on the piece of food stuck in their teeth? Or if they spilled juice on their brand new shirt. These are all extremely common scenarios and I hope these supplies (lens wipes, floss, stain remover pens, and more) will help. Kids who are cold can’t learn, hence the need for socks and gloves.

With these supplies I hope my students feel more confident, stay healthy, and focus better on learning.
