Health Education for Elementary Students

My students need education on health related issues, such as hand-washing and dental care. These fun kits will help me teach them healthy habits.

My Students

Each school year brings the challenge of keeping kids healthy in the school setting. With these fun kits, I (the school nurse) can enter the classroom with fun activities to creatively teach our students the benefits of good hand-washing and dental care.

In an elementary school in the Mat-Su Borough, Alaska, students know how to play and have fun.

Most love hunting, fishing and the outdoors. We come from the Meadow Lakes area, and our students' living arrangements range from lake side homes to cabins without running water or RV campers in campgrounds. Our students are fun, bright, active, and ready to learn.

My Project

With these fun learning kits, I (the school nurse) will be able to enter the classrooms and teach students the importance of good hand-washing and dental hygiene. I will be able to build relationships with our students in a fun setting. Other resources will be used for teaching in the nurses office and to be better prepared for emergency evacuation or lockdown.

Good hand-washing is the single most effective way to prevent disease transmission.

Teaching students good health habits early in life will set a good foundation for many years ahead.
