Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are energetic kids eager to learn. Over 90% of our students come from low-income households. A large percentage of our families meet the definition of homeless. My kids' parents are struggling to pay rent and get food on the table. And yet, our children still want to create, read, write, and learn!
My students worry about coming school and staying safe; and yet, they still want to come to school to explore, learn and grow.
I am teaching online and trying to meet my students' needs emotionally, as well as academically, during this pandemic. I want them to be safe and stay healthy as they work hard to learn to read, learn to use technology, and at the same time, learn language arts, math, science and social studies.
My Project
We have started our school year with distance learning. I would like to provide nutritious breakfast bars and snacks for my students so that they can be ready and attentive for online school. The CDC and our county have been watching the trends so that we can safely return to the classroom. I want to help my students by providing them with nutritious breakfast bars and snacks both online and when in hybrid mode. I see my students eating candy or pop-tarts while attending school online. Their parents are doing the best they can with what they have around the house. I want to help. Please help me provide my students more nutritious snacks to help them get through the day without a grumbling tummy. Having available individually wrapped, healthy snacks will ease the stress and worry of having enough food to eat so they can make it through the school day.
Having breakfast bars and snacks available for hungry kids and Kleenex boxes all around the classroom to prevent the spread of germs and viruses will help keep my kids healthy.
The Kleenex boxes I am requesting boast “antiviral” protection. This provides us with a little more peace of mind.
Please help me to do everything I can to feed and protect my kids, as well as help their mental, emotional and physical well-being. Thank you for considering my grant for your donation.
