Health and Safety For Our Keiki (Children)

Help me give my students safety equipment especially since they were AED, First Aid, CPR and lifeguard trained, also we also do a lot of outdoor work so we need to keep them hydrated and thinking about our planet.

My Project

What is special about my students is that I teach an alternative education program. Here my students learn skills that they'll be be to use in real life just making learning more tangible. With the safety equipment that we are requesting our students can continue to practice what they learned at lifeguard training plus we can take our safety equipment with us on excursions. The water bottles is for my students to keep hydrated and to learn to be "green". We do a lot of outdoor work and projects in the community so we want our students to make the healthy choice in water. Plus we provide a huge jug of water so the bottles will teach them to be "green", to stay hydrated and to be responsible with their equipment.

Being an alternative education teacher has taught me to be flexible, think outside of traditional classrooms, to find what interests and future goals my students have.

Also to provide them the opportunities for them to achieve their goals. Helping the community is a valuable experience for them to understand their role in their community. So our students are earning many skills and certifications. For example, they just completed AED, CPR, First Aid and lifeguard training. Our program goal is to reach more students in the next school year.
