This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My music students love to learn. Every day they enter Ms. K.'s House of Music with an eagerness to create. Technology is a focus for our school, and I would love to bring my music classes into the 21st century with an iPad!
My students have been affected by the recent looting and violence in their neighborhoods of Ferguson.
Many are confused and scared, and some are angry. They need healing, and they need it to start fast. Music has a way of healing, which is why I feel my job as their music teacher is critical.
My Project
With an iPad Air, my students will be able to learn how to document feelings and thoughts about the recent events happening in their neighborhoods. I plan to teach them the skills needed to create a documentary. They will also incorporate their own original music compositions into their documentary. This will be a year-long project that can only be achieved with the right technology. An iPad Air will help my students achieve their documentary goals.
By donating to our project, you will be helping children who are traumatized learn how to express their feelings through moving image which will, in turn, help them heal.
I feel as their music teacher, I must help them grow through this experience. Your generosity will help them do this.
