Help! Help! Help! They scream and yell! But no one seems to hear. Help! Help! But the teachers mistake their screeching cry for help and instead label them as troubled, some even call them bad. Help! Help! The students still begging to be seen, begging to be heard, but the teacher seems so unaware of the students despair. There seems to be no hope for the lad in the air. The teacher yells, not understanding that they are now fueling the young ones' fire. This fire is contagious, very outrageous. So the yelling causes him to grab and throw a chair; maybe a few daring words, even a deadly stare. The teacher hollers, go to the principal. I need you to get three days. Yep, that seems fair. With each ringing of the teachers' chaotic vibration, feeds the anger and hurt, the pain buried deep in their soul.
I'm a teacher for students with extreme emotional and behavior disorders.
My students haven't had a teacher for over two years. They had no one hearing their cries. I hear their cry, but I also run to them with a reply!
My Project
I have been in the creative arts since I was a student here in my district in grade two. The arts have always given me a sense of pride and confidence. I have taken several courses on mindfulness and different forms therapy such as play therapy and music therapy. I want to use these items to help my students find their voice. Some are dancers, some are singers and musicians, some paint their feelings with rhyming words so we call them poets, and some are artists. I want to give my students a platform to use their voice, but their voices all sound different. I want to give them the confidence to speak boldly in their own way!
