This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are using the Scratch programming language to learn programming and to explore Global Awareness themes like water conservation, salmon fisheries and the Sacramento/San Joaquin delta. We are recording our voices onto our characters, called Sprites, but we need reliable headphones with microphones.

My students are awesome.

They are enthusiastic about programming and about hearing their voices in their programs. Unfortunately they are also loud, so microphones that allow them to record quietly into their own laptop will help everyone. We are a Global Awareness Magnet so we try to have an environmental twist to everything that we do. Thus we are programming about the environment.

My Project

We use the Scratch programming language to build mini computer programs and to teach children the principles of "Garbage In, Garbage Out", logical language, if/then statements and the simple creativity of code. Part of Scratch allows children to record their voices onto their characters, or Sprites. We need the microphones to allow the children to record their voices simultaneously in a small, packed classroom.
