Headphones to Help Autistic Students with Noise Sensitivity

My students need 12 headphones with volume limits.

My Students

At the end of each class period and during lunch periods my students get "computer time." During this time each student gets to go to a computer and work on things individually.

Through out the week I teach all of the classes in my school K-5th grade, 14 classes in all.

Our school has 13 classes that are 6:1:1 programs (six students, one teacher and one paraprofessional) and one 12:1:1 class (twelve students, one teacher and one paraprofessional). The majority of the students at my school are on the autism spectrum and many of them have noise sensitivities, which means they can be very overwhelmed when there is too much noise going on.

My Project

The students would use the headphones during computer time. The headphones would make it easier for students to properly hear some of the programs that they like to use, as many of them have listening components. It will also help eliminate some of the stress for students who have noise sensitivity.

With up to 12 computers going at once it can get extremely loud and chaotic in the technology lab.

Having 12 sets of headphones would help to make my classroom much friendlier for my students who have noise sensitivities.
