This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are energetic and enthusiastic five and six year olds. They’re eager to learn new things and very excited to be at school! We are very lucky to have educational technology in our classroom. Our district has provided us with iPads for students to use as a support to the curriculum being taught. However, the district does not supply us with headphones, which are a necessity when trying to have students listen to stories or directions on them in a kindergarten classroom.

My Project

Being able to supply my students with headphones that are appropriate for their age (they have to be tough for five to six year olds) and will give my students the ability to be able to listen to their books/educational apps without being distracted by the many things going on in a kindergarten classroom. I run many levels of reading groups in my kindergarten. As a support to these groups, I use leveled reading software on iPads to support the individual lessons being taught in small group settings. These headphones will reduce the noise level in the classroom, focus the individual learner on the reading without distraction and create an overall better learning environment in the classroom.
