My students need headphones and headphone splitters. We have a limited number of keyboards so the headphones and splitters will allow two students to share one keyboard. We are also in need of strings and cables.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This will be my first year teaching middle school modern band in Dallas ISD. The statistics at my school are the following: 97.3 % economically disadvantaged, 71.6% english language learners. Many families come from Mexico or Central America and others have been in Dallas for several generations. I have not met my students yet but I think the statistics do speak for themselves.
I know for a fact that my students are as capable as any other group of students of being successful and achieving great things.
They just need someone to believe in them and fight for them.
I know this first year will be very important so I want my students to have all the necessary equipment and materials they will need to be successful.
My Project
These materials will make a huge difference. Without headphones in the music classroom there is really no way of allowing students to practice on their own and progress. We only have one microphone cable and no instrument cables so far, so we are in dire need to get some before the school year starts.
We will use the strings we get to replace the ones that break throughout the year.
Currently as a modern band teacher we get no money or stipend for materials, so we have to find the means to get our students what they need.
