This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have sixteen third-grade bilingual students and thirteen fourth-grade bilingual students who love coming to school. Most of my students qualify for free lunch while a few qualify for reduced-price lunch. While all my students speak Spanish as their native language, they come to me with unique backgrounds and experiences. My students deserve access to the best possible learning experiences, and that is what I am advocating.

My students are inquisitive and eager to absorb new knowledge.

They learn from each other as much as I learn from them in the short nine months we have together. This year is unique as it is the first time I'm teaching third grade and fourth grade reading language arts.

My Project

Each student has an iPad they use throughout their school day. Students work independently on an app called IXL, that helps them in reading and math. After each question they answer, they are given feedback. Other times, however, students will show what they learned through answering questions on Quizizz or Kahoot! Students can also read books on their iPads either through Epic! or Tumble Books or research using PebbleGo. When all students are doing this at the same time, our classroom can get loud. Some parents send their children to school with a pair of headphones but the majority do not.

My students need a quality pair of headphones so they can focus on the lesson or video on their iPad.
