This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kiddos are (usually) born and raised here in Dallas, TX. They are bilingual by luck! Parents are usually immigrants to this great country or first generation Americans. My babies are my pride and joy. I love that they can read, write, and speak in more than one language.

It's amazing how their brains transfer information and knowledge from one language to another with such ease.

One of their biggest challenges is the environment where they live and grow up. Though all come from loving families, many feel the weight of the parents' financial burdens. My role as their teacher also transforms into nurturer, mentor, friend, and more. I try to become what ever they may need in order to help them succeed.

My Project

My 5th graders would benefit greatly from a class set of headphones. The headphones would really make a difference.

We have access to so many programs and resources that can personalize their learning, but our lack of headphones makes it harder for the kids to receive the instruction they need.

These programs are designed to be used solely as a supplement to their learning. I plan to use them mainly for the students who truly need them due to dyslexia or other special needs. Thanks so much for your generosity with this project. My 5th graders would really appreciate it.
