My Students

Technology is the campfire around which we tell our stories. –Laurie Anderson This year, we were very fortunate that our principal allocated funds for new technology in the classroom. New Ipads will be available to my students to use for daily math and literacy interventions.

Our school houses over twelve hundred students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

We are an underfunded, Title 1 school, in an inner city, where many ethnicities come together to learn and explore while speaking over forty languages! The students in my second grade class are a diverse bunch! The majority of them speak English as a second language, while others receive learning support for different needs. Most of the students came to my class reading below grade level. They never experienced kindergarten and lack the resources at home to develop their abilities.

My Project

Our is school is very fortunate that we have access to research-based intervention programs for literacy and math. These programs have been successful tools in my classroom for ELLs, struggling readers, and my special education students. Therefore, using the interventions on the computer are part of our daily routine. Providing my students with headphones will allow them to focus on the intervention and not be distracted by others. The Ipad covers will protect the devices for years to come. The covers are made to withstand considerable wear and tear and provide extreme shock protection. They are light weight and perfect for my students.

Donations to this project will make a huge difference in my class!

Due to budget cuts in our district, technology, as well as basic supplies, are distributed very rarely. I want to protect the Ipads for years to come so that my future students will also have access to learning interventions that will help them succeed. My students will continue to shine and demonstrate their learning and creativity with your generosity!
