Celebrating Black History Month

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I work at a Title I school with a classroom full of wonderful, energetic 2nd graders. At our school we have many wonderful reading and math programs that help our students learn to read and to help them be successful in math. Giving them more chances to be on the computer would allow them to enjoy learning. Many students can not afford durable headphones to use every day in the classroom. Some students need to be able to concentrate on their work to be successful.

My Project

In my classroom we have many computers that the students can use, but we don't have enough headphones for every student. This means that we can't take full advantage of using the apps and programs on the Chromebooks and desktop computers. There are different programs on the computers that would help me differentiate their learning as well, but the majority of these programs require them to listen to directions or stories being read aloud. My students need to be able to work without distractions because many of them struggle with focusing. With headphones, they would be able to focus more on what they are learning.
