Headphones for the Win!

Help me give my students headphones which will give them the chance to hear what the computer is trying to teach them.

My Students

Our students come from hard-working families who don't always have a lot of money. They're good kids who want to learn! I'm proud to say that, despite our challenges, parents in other areas of our city send their children to us because they know we have a learning environment here.

We work hard at our school and we know that learning must be enjoyable to be educational.

We get our hands on our learning every chance we get. It could be using Cheetos to dust 'pollen' from flower to flower, dancing out our anti-bullying rap, or forming an island out of play dough to demonstrate our landforms.

My Project

We do our best to preserve these resources but the simple fact is that 2nd graders go through headphones. We've talked about how we don't want to suck on the cord (weird) or chew on the cord (why?) and how if you play with the size too much it might get stuck in your hair. (ouch!) At the end of the day, they're good kids who are not playing around...they're just doing normal fidgety things with headphones that many of us do.

We'd greatly appreciate a new set of headphones for our classroom.

Right now, we have a policy of "make it work or switch them out with another pair" but the "other pairs" are really just ones that other kids couldn't make work...it's a vicious cycle. There are definitely times when they're just not turning the volume up and such, but believe it or not, these kids are pretty computer savvy, so most of the time it's just a busted headset.
