My Students
I work at a low-income school with students from incredibly diverse backgrounds. Many of them work after school jobs to help support their family. A lot of them are working hard to learn English, having recently moved from countries that speak Spanish, Arabic, Russian, and many more.
Despite the challenges that they face, I am impressed every day by their work ethic and the sense of community they bring.
They are always willing to help each other out and striving to make sure that everyone can succeed. I try my best every day to make my content accessible to all of my students.
My Project
My class could use a class set of headphones. I have been trying to incorporate more technology based activities into my curriculum, including virtual labs, self guided powerpoints, research projects, Nearpod activities, Kahoots, watching videos, etc.
It is easy for the classroom to become noisy and difficult to focus in when students are doing things that involve sound.
Having a class set of headphones will help alleviate that chaos so students can focus on what they are doing instead of being distracted by the sound coming from their classmate's devices.
Having headphones available for the students who don't have any to use will help make our classroom a better learning environment for all students!
