This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Hello! I am a 3rd grade teacher at a Title 1 elementary school in Texas, in a low socio-economic community. Teaching students goes beyond teaching them academics. Teaching students entails being a friend, a support, and at times a safe space.

As this year comes to and end, I realized that the small things we take for granted many times, others wish they had like something as miniscule as headphones.

We go through headphones a lot in the classroom. Some of us struggle taking care of our headphones, but we can't help it. So my plea is to please help my students with giving them access to a pair of headphones at all times throughout the school year. I want to lessen the burden of families when purchasing headphones is not a priority compared to other necessities.

As we continue to evolve through technology, it is just a must now in the classroom. Technology is not everything in my classroom, but definitely is a supplement to what I have to offer through teaching instruction.
