I have an amazing group of second grade students! My students are part of a Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program which allows English learners and English proficient students to receive instruction in English and in Mandarin to develop academic proficiency. Like most classrooms, I have a very diverse group of students. Our school is a Title I school, with a very high level of poverty. Our entire school receives free breakfast and lunch. Although they are surrounded by poverty, they eagerly come to school and work very hard. They know that through education they will be able to better their lives. Students and parents do not have the financial means to provide essentials. Help me bring in the necessary materials to help my students succeed in school.
My Project
These headphones will help my students complete STEM activities in our school's Amplify Science and Reading program that focuses on several different concepts. Our STEM activities are skill-based lessons that promotes career readiness. These STEM activities will allow my students to improve in the areas of literacy, math, science, and engineering. It will help my students solve real-world problems. We incorporate technology into many lessons throughout the day. A lot of the programs and websites we use have the capability of reading the text to the students.
The ability to have and use headphones helps students focus on their task and work individually at their own pace ensuring that they can hear instructions to the programs that they are engaged in.
Through the use of this technology, their individual needs in math, science, engineering, and literacy are being met in fun and engaging ways. Students will stay focused on meeting their educational goals, as well as allowing others to work on their center activities around the room too, with fewer distractions!
