Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in 7th grade at a middle school in San Diego near the Tijuana border.

More than 80% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch.

These students are part of the Dual Language Program. They enjoy project based learning and the challenge of solving real life problems. They are conscientious, caring and motivated individuals who want to take on current issues and make a difference. They work hard to learn healthy habits and to help create positive school climate.

My Project

Remote learning is new for all our students. Many of my students have individualized Education Plans and struggle with focus and concentration. Headphone are essential for our meeting and weekly lessons. Headphones will help tune out outside noise and increase student engagement. Many of my students have siblings who will also be learning alongside them and an unintentional additional distraction. My students will be asked to video chat and participate in class discussions via Microsoft Teams and Zoom. They will also use them to watch recorded lessons on a daily basis.
