My Students

I teach 9th grade English Language Arts in a suburban high school in Pennsylvania. Each year, I am fortunate enough to work with diverse groups students as they develop their reading, writing, and speaking skills. Each student in our school has a school-issued laptop that they use in each of their classes. In Language Arts class, my students enjoy using technology in class to discuss literature, make connections between our course content and real life, research topics, and strengthen vocabulary skills.

My Project

One of my goals as an English teacher is to help my students find books that they love. Finding one great book can open the door to discovering great literature and developing a lifelong love of reading. Many students benefit from listening to audio books while also following along in the text. In order for each student to engage in a book that they enjoy while also reading at his or her own pace, I often use audio books. To give each student the opportunity to a book of their choosing, I will need headphones for every student in my class.
