This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every morning my students come to class full of excitement, eager to learn, and full of potential. They are all curious, creative, kind, and full of unique experiences and abilities. As teachers, it is our goal to inspire a lifelong love of learning and provide them with every opportunity possible. Our school is a Title I school in Washington, DC and many of my students have experienced severe trauma and adversity in their lives that makes learning especially challenging. About half our students are English Language Learners, many of whom received little formal education in their native language. Despite these challenges, our students are extremely resilient and motivated to learn. Every day we work together to help them overcome these hardships, and reach their highest potential through high quality education.
My Project
Headphones will allow students to fully engage in online learning opportunities that support what we are learning in the classroom. Students use programs called Zearn and ST math that are both engaging and enhance their learning. We have been without headphones so they have been missing the audio component of these programs. The headphones will allow them to view online tutorials of the math we are learning in class.
In addition, students will use the headphones for an online reading program called Lexia that has a read aloud function, writing practice and vocabulary activities.
The headphones will allow them to use the audio features of this program.
