Headphones for My Ears!

Help me give my students headphones to use with Chromebooks for learning independently while I work with small groups on the lesson for the day.

My Students

As the school librarian, I have the responsibility, and the great pleasure, to interact with each and every one of our students for a variety of purposes. From Kindergarten to 5th grade, the best part of my day is watching them actively practice our school Character Traits to create an atmosphere of learning.

Focused on CREST: Craftsmanship, Respect, Empathy, Self-Discipline and Trustworthiness, our students understand that they are responsible for their learning .

You may see students sitting quietly while others are speaking. You may observe students engaged in a discussion by noticing that they are motioning with a me/you (thumb and forefinger forward and back) gesture to indicate that they relate to what the speaker is saying. You may also see students sitting in groups collaborating and grappling over a problem, or analyzing data that was gathered to solve a problem.

Our school has the highest poverty rate in the district with 99% of our students receiving a free or reduced-price lunch. Poverty is difficult to navigate, and requires a strong culture to beat it. Our kids eat, breathe and sleep CREST.

My Project

It's important to stay current with tried and true teaching trends in the classroom. Gone are the days where students sit in rows of desks with everyone hearing the same lesson.

Today's BEST PRACTICE for teaching often includes independent learning, as the instructor works with small groups in order to DIFFERENTIATE LESSONS that will address individual needs.

There are an abundance of learning opportunities to access on various websites, apps or lessons created in Google Drive that may be accessed on student Chromebooks for independent learning. These headphones will assist in providing individual opportunities for students to access an abundance of learning choices without disturbing others.
