The students coming into my classroom are a diverse group of children who love learning and want to succeed in life. Many come from low-income households and don't have regular access to technology that many of us take for granted.
Having equipment to help move to learn forward is a top priority!
I have students in my classroom who have special needs such as learning disabilities and all of them are second language learning. Giving my students the added bonus of technology will be a great help to them.
My Project
Our multilingual students have an extra amount of learning that needs to take place. Not only are they developing in their native language, but they are also learning English. Due to COVID many of our students have spent extra time at home speaking their native language and their English learning has slipped a bit. In order to make up the lost ground we have the students work with teachers and then an extra 15 minutes a day on a language development computer program where they read, listen and speak into a microphone. The headphones are a necessity for this program. They also use the headphones with speakers to complete their WIDA Access assessment each year.
More than half of students from low‑income households
