This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is on the far South side of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. We are a Title I school, which means we have a very large population of low - income students. Our school houses a little over 900 students from Pre-K through fourth grade. About 96% of our students come from a bilingual household. Every student qualifies for the free lunch program. We hand out 700 weekend food bags every weekend.

Our School is a Great Expectation (GE) School and Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS).

GE focuses on developing a culture of mutual respect. It nurtures a positive and safe school environment. PBIS is a way for our school to encourage food behavior . PBIS focuses on prevention, not punishment.

My Project

Chromebooks are a big part of our learning. 85% of test, including state testing are done on chrome books. Many of our student are low level readers or English is their second language. Assignments and test can be read to students. When you have 25 chrome books all going at the same time, it can be very noisy and distracting to others, especially ADHD and SPED students. Headphones will be a great benefit in our classroom. Not only will it provide an one - on - Chromebook with that student it will help the students be able to focus better.
