The bell has rung, and our class is eager and ready to learn! We start our day with "Good Mornings," smiles, and breakfast. Once we are settled, we recite our Class Vision, which my students helped create together. We then say our class motto which is "Strive for Excellence!"
My little scholars are in a Title I school.
Most have many different aspects of life they are faced with including home life challenges, physical challenges, and academic challenges. What I love most about my students is that they are ALL resilient! Even when the chips are down, they rise to the occasion to the best of their ability. They know that all I ask is for them to "Strive for Excellence," and that each of their levels of "excellence" is different.
I have requested a class set of headphones. My students will use the headphones after breakfast to practice their math skills on First in Math. After a mini lesson in reading, they will practice the skill and then go on Cores 5 to practice their personal skills. Then we will have a mini lesson in writing. The children can use their iPads to create a story, then record it, and listen to their own story using the headphones. After a mini lesson in math, the students go to centers, where the iPad is a center. They work on their individual objectives in math. We use the iPad in science and social studies. The students can listen and learn facts at their own rate. Your donation to this project will help greatly because it will lower the noise level in the room. Even with the iPads turned low, that's still a lot of noise for children who have problems focusing. I noticed that when we had the cheap earbuds, the students did not look around as much and were able to get more work done. The cheap earbuds also broke easily, thus causing my students to not be prepared for learning.
Your donation will help improve my classroom by helping my little scholars be prepared for learning.
They will not have to worry about not having headphones and not being able to listen to a story or prompt, especially if they are a struggling reader. My students' lives will change for the better because they will feel more prepared for learning. They will not be so reluctant to do an iPad assignment because they will have their headphones. This will be a HUGE confidence booster!
