My Students

May The Force Be With You! Science and technology have been the driving force for all our student learning. Students are guided through inquiry based explorations utilizing technology in the classroom.

Our school focuses on technology and an inquiry-based approach to science.

The theme of environmental studies allows our students to find a connection between their own community and the world in which they live, creating productive citizens and resourceful, life-long learners. Our Magnet School community consists of students and families from throughout the city of Stamford but the majority of families come from the neighborhood.

My Project

Our very diverse student population comes with a wide range of academic, social-emotional and economic needs that often impact the ability to maximize learning. Grade level teachers in our school implement the use of stations in all the curricular areas. · Students demonstrate an increase in literacy skills such as, reading comprehension, fluency, writing and retelling through science integrated literacy units. The use of literacy stations supports the learning environment. Students will analyze, clarify and cite information using complex texts. Teachers utilize Math Stations to support differentiated learning during student work period. Our classrooms have a shared grade level cart of iPads. Unfortunately, there are not enough headphones to go with the iPads. Students use the iPads in their work stations. Having headphones will make the learning environment much quieter, focused and productive.

Hart Magnet School provides its students with a learning environment that ensures a firm foundation in the basics and fosters respect for our diverse population.
