Help me give my students a classroom pack of sturdy headphones, 8 pairs of sensory deprivation headphones for students with sensory/attention challenges, and 2 pairs of headphones with microphones for students who need special testing accommodations.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students are kind, funny, thoughtful, and curious 4th, 5th and 6th graders. One of the things I like best about teaching in a multi-age Montessori classroom is watching my students grow academically and socially over the course of three years. I also enjoy watching the mentoring relationships that develop between the older and younger students. Starting in kindergarten, our school places a high value on respect and kindness among students, and I see this reflected in my classroom on a daily basis.
My students start every year with their own headphones which they bring as part of their school supplies. We use them regularly for testing, independent work time, music applications during free time, and more. The quality of headphones that my students bring varies greatly and, due to normal wear and tear, many of the headphones break or stop working correctly before the year is over.
As a result, my classroom always seems to be perpetually in need of headphones.
In this project, I am asking for a classroom pack of headphones that are flexible, durable, and intended for high use in a classroom setting. This will allow me to have enough headphones in the classroom to help bridge the gap between the start and end of the year.
In my class, I have several students with sensory and attention challenges. For them, I am requesting 8 pairs of sensory deprivation headphones. Having this option for my students will allow those who are especially sensitive to or distracted by environmental noise to really focus in on their learning.
Lastly, I am requesting 2 pairs of high-quality headphones with built-in microphones. These will be used for testing ELL students as well as students who need special testing accommodations.
