My amazing students are six- and seven-year-olds who come from low-income households. These little ones come to school eager to learn, explore, and share stories.
I want to build a classroom environment where my students feel safe, invested, and accepted for who they are and for their beliefs.
Many of the children are from single-family households or their grandparents are there helping raise them. I want to build a classroom where there are wonderful resources and areas for them to go explore—a classroom that is comforting and feels just like home.
My students are fortunate enough to have iPads that we use daily in class for learning. In order to watch videos and learn online lessons effectively without disturbing other students, my class could use headphones for each of our iPads. Also, since my students are all six- and seven-year-olds, they are easily distracted. Having their own headphones would help them pay attention to the literacy and math activities that they use on their iPads.
My class uses iPads every day and my students struggle with being able to afford headphones.
They want to learn and grow; this project is aimed at fulfilling that craving.
