Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a school on the southwest side of Chicago. Our school has a large population of Latino students whose first language is Spanish. In the years I have worked as a teacher, the students I have had come in every day with a lot of energy, with many questions and ready to learn.

Fourth grade is a very exciting year for students.

Throughout the fourth grade, students learn to become independent learners. Furthermore, throughout the fourth grade, students become exposed to many different text genres and develop many reading and writing skills.

One of the very exciting things about being in fourth grade is that students become independent readers. By the end of fourth grade, students leave having been exposed to many different genres of books. They also leave the fourth grade loving books and having learned new reading and writing strategies.

My Project

I teach in Chicago, in a school were all of my students receive free and reduced lunch, I am currently preparing for this upcoming school year. As of now, I know that the first quarter of school will be remote learning. After finding out that we will go into remote learning I was thinking of what my students will need to make learning as enjoyable as can be, and also what materials I needed as a teacher to prepare them for the upcoming school year.

I want my students to have all the materials they need for remote learning.

For this project I am asking for headphones, mice and mouse pads that my students can use during remote learning to make learning as enjoyable as possible. Currently many of my students do not have headphones and are interrupted by other people in their household when they are learning. Providing them with headphones will help ease distractions. Also, having mice and mouse pads will help them have more ease when working on different programs in their Chromebooks. I cannot wait to get these items for my students, these items will get them excited and prepared for remote learning.
